How to Know When It’s Time to Outsource Your Marketing

Okay so let’s just get it out there and be honest with each other - if you’re here and you’re reading this, you’re probably on the lookout for someone to help you with your marketing.

The whole marketing thing has become a bit of a pain in the arse for a lot of businesses. It isn’t just “posting on Instagram now and then and hoping for the best” anymore. It’s research, strategy, writing, planning, designing, scheduling, engaging, analysing… and then doing it all over again. Oh, and ideally doing it well.

So if your to-do list is starting to look like a never-ending scroll of doom, or your ‘monthly newsletter’ hasn’t gone out since 2022, it might be time to call in some backup.

Here are a few signs it’s time to outsource your marketing:

You’re stuck in a cycle of “I’ll post something tomorrow...”

We’ve all been there. You mean to write that blog or plan those social posts, but client work comes first. Always. Until it's been three months and your last Instagram post is a blurry picture of a flat white with the caption “Busy day!”

Outsourcing means that while you're getting stuck into the work you love, someone else is making sure your brand stays visible and active.

You’re great at what you do – but hate shouting about it

Being brilliant at your job doesn’t mean you’re automatically good at marketing it. And tbh, you shouldn’t have to be. If writing about your own business makes you cringe, or trying to define your brand voice feels like pulling teeth, that’s a big ol’ sign to hand it over to someone who lives for that stuff (hi 👋).

You don’t have a plan, you’re purely working from vibes

Posting when you remember, sending emails when you “feel inspired,” and trying to be on every platform “just in case” is not a strategy. If you’re winging it more than you’d like to admit, a freelance marketer can help you set some goals, get focused, and actually see results.

You’ve got big ideas, but no time to make them happen

You know that blog series you wanted to start? That new service you wanted to launch? That podcast you daydream about every time you're stuck in traffic? It’s not going to magically create itself – but with the right support, it could get off the ground.

You’re ready to grow, but not ready to hire

Hiring in-house can be a huge leap – time-consuming, expensive, and a bit scary if you’re not 100% sure what you need yet. Working with a freelancer or small agency is a great in-between step. Flexible, cost-effective, and way less HR faff. And I won’t make you chip in for my birthday present, unless you REALLYYYYYY want to.

You just need someone who gets it

Sometimes it’s less about skills and more about headspace. You want someone who can bounce around ideas, bring some fresh energy, and get your brand without needing a 45-slide onboarding deck.

Any of that sound familiar?

If reading this made you nod along more times than you’d like to admit, outsourcing might be exactly what your business needs right now. Whether you need help with copywriting, content, social media or the full shebang – you don’t have to do it all alone.
